Into The Breach

I placed the above trailer video first on this page intentionally. I hope you spent the 2 minutes it takes to watch and listen.

I am a very proud 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus in the Abbott Pennings Council #3955. The Knights of Columbus produced the "Into The Breach" video series to answer the question: "What does it mean to be a man, and how should I live as a man, in today's world?" It is inspired by the Apostolic Exhortation for Catholic men written by Bishop Thomas Olmsted of the Diocese of Phoenix, AZ.

Specifically, the exhortation helps us answer these crucial questions of our time:

  1. What does it mean to be a Catholic man?
  2. How does a Catholic man love?
  3. Why is fatherhood, fully understood, so crucial for every man?

The "Into The Breach" series is a collection of 12 videos, each less than 15 minutes, that further break down the questions into these topics:

  1. This is what authentic masculinity looks like.
  2. Why men need a band of brothers.
  3. Leaders aren't born, they're made.
  4. Why strong fathers are so needed.
  5. Why family life is under attack.
  6. Why men must stand up for life.
  7. Why men need to pray.
  8. How to embrace suffering.
  9. Why men need the sacraments.
  10. Why the devil wants you to fail.
  11. If you don't live the faith, how can you pass it on?
  12. God's plan for every man's life.

The entire series is available to the world for free via the Into The Breach YouTube playlist. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in six in-person sessions at Our Lady of Lourdes Church with a number of brother knights, where we watched these videos and discussed what they actually mean in our lives here in our community.

I encourage you to do the same. Or if you don't have the opportunity to watch the videos as a group, watch them on your own and ponder your role. I love the quote from Dr. Scott Hahn from Franciscan University of Stubenville: "My rosary beads are the key. I look at life as spiritual warfare, they're beads for the battle." Our rosaries are indeed weapons. They are our protection against the wickedness and the snares of the devil.

God bless you.

Scott
