When I saw these beads, my mind immediately went back to when I was a young boy watching my Mom cook in the kitchen. The blue print on white reminded me of the set of Corningware dishes and bowls that Mom used. The Hail Mary beads are 8mm porcelain ceramic. The white beads are recycled from an old necklace I found at De Pere Christian Outreach Thrift Store. The centerpiece is in the shape of the fleur-de-lis, a symbol with French roots and used in the coat of arms by the Norbertine Order of Catholic priests. Each of the three lily leafs features an important image with French roots in the Catholic church: Mary (mother of Jesus) on top, Bernadette (two whom Mary appeared in 1858 in Lourdes, France) on the left, and St. Therese of Lisieux (a French Carmelite nun) on the right. The back side of the medal features several images: the Holy Trinity, elements from the Miraculous Medal, and the word "FIAT" (Mary's "yes" to God). The chain and eye pins are silver-plated steel.
