Our Lady of Lourdes Rosary — Over at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church parish office we have this really cool statue of Mary in the entry way. Recently, a couple of fellow parishioners had the statue restored and repainted, so it's actually in very good shape. I love it!
As I was entering the building about six months ago, something just caused me to stop in front of the statue and ponder. And, as has happened to me more frequently in recent years, I felt this urge to make a new rosary. So, I took some close up pictures of the statue so that I could match up the paint colors with some beads. The result is this rosary.
The blue of the Hail Mary beads and the gold of the Our Father beads match up pretty well. The centerpiece is a familiar image of Bernadette on her knees in front of Mary at Lourdes. The fleur-de-lis hanging from the center is a nod to the Premonstratensian fathers of St. Norbert Abbey who have so dutifully and faithfully cared for this parish for decades.
